So, I meander my way through the first part of the game, trying various things out as they poke my curiosity or quests come up prompting them, the first few battles seem rather unbalanced so I resort to negotiating and using up my resources to progress, to my annoyance, but at first I figure it's probably to encourage the peaceful route, since after all I'm supposed to be elves, right?

But then I get to the quests, and they indicate I should be able to initially train 12 warriors at once, instead of six. I figure maybe the problem is that I haven't gotten around to building an armory yet. Then a couple quests later, after I've gotten my first squad size upgrade, it mentions that my squad size should now be 24 - this prompted me to look things up on the wiki, since it started at 6 and went to 9, and 12 then 24 would make a LOT more sense given that the enemy squad size in the second ring of hexes is a whopping 29 and was naturally whooping my 9-man squads butts.

The wiki also indicates that I should have started with squads of Is this a bug, and if not, what's going on? Because I'm already finding it very difficult to explore on the world map sufficiently to get the expansions I need in order to produce enough coins to meet research unlocks, not to mention upgrade levels required for quests.

Welcome to the game. Lots of things here to cover. Sadly the combat system in chapter 2 and start of chapter 3 is unbalanced so negotiating is the way to go, but there are things to understand so you can have the option to do combat near the end of chapter 3 or in tournaments. Armories only increase the training size in your barracks and training grounds.

They will not impact the squad size in battles, for this you need to research squad size technology. Enemy squad sizes are effected by your advanced scout technology and distance from your city. Try to scout the provinces closest to your town as going an extra "ring" distance out has a big jump in enemy squad size Difficulty is based on enemy squad size verse your squad size. Fights of are designed for you to lose, the hardest tournament level is only 1.

This depends on provinces so initially certain provinces will just be hard to impossible.

Thread starter macadoo Start date Mar 22, I have been advised to not use use the ones that are in a dead because that makes the enemy stronger but I keep losing anyway what's the good advice you can give me.

We need to know if you are talking about having trouble in the tournaments or on the world map. Optional SS upgrades only help with battles on the world map. The reason to skip optional SS upgrades is to keep tournament costs low. Since most players complete way more encounters in tourneys each week than on the world map, it makes sense to skip them.

elvenar squad size

If you cater tourneys, squad size is one of the multipliers for amount of goods needed; it will quickly become too expensive to cater if you take all optional SS upgrades. If it's tourneys you're having issues with, is it all tourneys or just Scrolls and Dust the 2 that are always expensive in troops?

If it's primarily this just finished Dust tourney, know that right now even experienced fighters are having to call in the grief counselors for their very few surviving troopsQuests, preferences and strategy all guide our research choices. Read on for more about the decisions you may encounter during the Elementals chapter. The manufactory upgrades allow us to turn our T1 manufactories into S1 sentient tier 1 manufactories. For this reason, we may want to upgrade our Sentient Boosted manufactory type, first.

It may not make much difference which you choose, however, your Standard Boosted or your Sentient Boosted, since all 3 must be researched in order to reach the Production Boost research.

It is best to have the boost unlocked before producing any Sentient Goods, anyway. More important is that we have an S1 manufactory upgraded to level 24 by the time we unlock the production boost research so we can make use of it right away. Before you can have many goods to trade, you need to be able to produce more of them.

The sooner you unlock the Production boost, the better, so you can begin producing a fair amount and have plenty to trade by the time you unlock the trader upgrade.

Not to mention, seeds are expensive! In most chapters, we want to unlock the Portal, first. This way we can get a head start producing Minerals. Remember that when you upgrade a squad size, this will have a direct impact on the number of squads you have and your Tournament Costs. Your Tournament costs will increase since your Squad Size determines the catering prices and squad sizes for each province and round. For these reasons, some recommend avoiding this type of research mid-tournament.

This may or may not be necessary, but something to consider. Either way, the research must be completed to move forward, and the increased squad size is inevitable. You may find no point in putting it off. Complete the manifestation research, first and then start building some right away, one of each if you can. The next research we recommend prioritizing is the residence upgrades.

It will take some focus as it requires some Essence, meaning you will need to get one of each Manifestation built and producing enough Artifacts to make some in the time you can fill it with KP. It is worth the effort, however. You will need to be able to start upgrading your residences as soon as you can, and you will need some available space not yet filled up with settlement buildings to be able to accommodating the shifting about that comes with a changing shape and size.

Completing the first upgrades quickly will help you gain more usable space so you can then grow your settlement to its large size. Once you reach the point where you will need Essence to progress any further, just like with most other chapters, we are going to be challenged to choose whether we want to spend our resources on completing Research or building up the settlement.

In order to make essence, you will have to slow down on the artifacts that are needed to upgrade the portal and artifact buildings. Each manifestation level requires a new technology to access. We can, however, upgrade our Portal with only Artifacts and Minerals, which is the more important building to upgrade, anyway. Only Coins, Supplies, Minerals and Artifacts are needed to upgrade the portal.

Upgrade it to level 4 as quickly as you can. Focus on producing the artifacts needed for the portal upgrades. Save making much more Essence for when you can produce it more efficiently with the increased production boost provided by the higher level portal. Upgrade the portal to level 4 as quickly as you can so that you get more Artifacts for your seeds and mana, and more Essence for your Artifacts.

It may feel counter-intuitive in the moment, and it can be hard to pass up making faster progress on research, but it is the quickest and most efficient way to complete the chapter in the long run.

From there, the order you research will likely come down to your own preferences, or you may like to follow the quests.Forums New posts Search forums. What's new New posts New profile posts Latest activity.

Thread starter Jegenchant Start date Mar 7, Jegenchant Active Member. Hi, I'm in Orcs and Goblins. I bypassed two squad size upgrades that weren't required to get to the next research. I am near the end of Orcs and have just completed the required squad size upgrade.

Elvenar Basics - The 10 Golden Rules of Space Optimization (1)

Do I need to go back to the ones I passed up in order to gain greater squad size or did the required research catch me up? I'm have a feeling I'll be told to go back and do the research but here's hoping I don't!

Saphirra the magnificent Well-Known Member. Jegenchant said:. Catering costs are also based on squad size, so the higher it is, the more goods will be called for as well. Since map provinces are so hard in the very early chapters, general consensus is after you get to Dwarves you're better off skipping any of the optional SS upgrades. One thing to remember: this game is still in development. They could change those parameters any time and you'd have to go back and do the ones you skipped.

Stockpiling any guest race goods needed to activate them is a prudent move so you wouldn't have to rebuild a settlement if that were to happen. Vergazi Well-Known Member.

And as always doesn't hurt to mention that everyone has their own preferred style of play and in my way of thinking tears up all the spreadsheets they are all valid.

Point 1 is to have fun. If you aren't having fun and don't look forward to each new challenge what's the point?Forums New posts Search forums. What's new New posts New profile posts Latest activity. Members Current visitors New profile posts Search profile posts.

Thread starter ShadowsFell Start date Dec 7, ShadowsFell Member. First, sorry if this has been answered anywhere, I looked but couldn't find it. How much should the "Squad Size Limit Increase" technology give?

For the quest for the second increase, the text told me it "increased by 12, doubling our attack power" or something. When I look through the release notes, the notes for 1. Or something else? This building allows you to muster armies by training units. The building levels decrease the Training Time for new Units. In the Barracks you can produce your Units and have an overview of your available Squads. Squads are what you will place on the battlefield. On the battlefield, Units of one type are grouped into Squads.

You are able to build the Barracks after unlocking it in the Research Tree and once you have the corresponding resources. It requires a street connection to the Main Hall, it cannot be sold nor rebuilt, but you can upgrade it.

Each upgrade of the Barracks will reduce the Training Time. It can also increase the amount of available training Slots: You will get an additional Slot every time your barracks increase in size. Training your Units will cost you Supplies and time. The more Units are trained in a training slot at one time, the more resources are needed to start training and the longer that training will take to complete.

Squad Size?

Of course you can always finish the training instantly by paying Premium. Depending on the level of your Barracks, you will be able to use up to 5 slots of training at a time. Meaning you can train your troops using a queue system and the units will become available by slot, when the corresponding training time is over. You can cancel queued trainings in case you change your mind and in this case you will receive your Supplies back. In order to add the trained units to the Army Camp you then need to collect them by clicking on the army icon on top of the Barracks.

Note that the icon will show whenever the first slot is finished, so that you know you now have a new available slot for a new training while the next slot will continue training. At the beginning, the base Training Size of a Slot in the Barracks is 6, which means that the Slot can only train Units with a total weight of up to 6. Different Unit types have different weights, so some Units can be trained in larger numbers than others.

Squad: On the battlefield you will place Squads, not single Units. The Basic Squad Size on the battlefield is As in the training size, the weight of a unit is taken into account. Remember the Training Slot size will not increase with this technology.

Build and upgrade Armories to ensure that your Training Slots can keep up with filling the Squad sizes. The used sequence is the one you can see in your Goods overview panel.

Last edited: Sep 19, Heymrdiedier Well-Known Member. I guess the calculation of squad size doesnt work that well and thats why those researched became mandatory. Jasper Guest. Basic size is 6, you can see that in the armories overview tab.

Don't forget AW's like DB which also increase the size. Heymrdiedier said:. Muf-Muf Elvenar Team. Initial size is now indeed 6. I am rather new but, my barracks produces either sword dancer or archers 6 per training period.

Where can I find out how many of each trained troops I have finished training at theses basic levels? Mykan Well-Known Member. In your barracks there is a tab for army camp. I assume this is what you are looking for which shows all military units you now have. You must log in or register to reply here.
